Illinois

If you know of a convention that needs to be added to the list or have updated your own convention's policy, you can fill out the form here. If you find any broken links or have any questions about this page, please contact Fractali at admin@cosplayer-ssn.org. This is a perpetual work in progress!

A guide to some of Illinois's laws can be found here.

Note: conventions with * have either not updated for several years, have a malfunctioning website, or may be defunct.

Note: Anime Halloween has allegedly been connected to Ryan Køpf.

Note: Anime Midwest's policy is basically just "be nice" and "don't break laws." It is a Ryan Køpf con.

Note: Anime-ZAP! is a Ryan Køpf con. As of the time of evaluation, the Policies page is marked as "not found." When googling the convention's name plus "harass," a URL ending in "/help" pops up and mentions that "harassment... [is] absolutely not allowed." However, we cannot find a link between this page and the current website map. Therefore, we can't count this. It does not exist on the current website nor was it easy to find.

Note: Archon's policy can be found by scrolling down the main page. We also noticed that the "contacts" listed are primarily police department phone numbers. We understand that listing an emergency number such as 911 could be valuable in circumstances of physical harm. However, because many folks in the convention community are also from marginalized communities that are routinely discriminated against by law enforcement and would be dissuaded to report with the police phone number so prominently displayed; because police so rarely investigate cases of harassment, stalking, abuse, and sexual assault with dignity toward the reporting party, if they investigate at all; if it is Archon's preference to keep this number on the policy page, we would not recommend including this information in the Harassment Policy section.

Note: Collect-A-Con's policy can be found by scrolling to the very bottom of the home page.

Note: Con Alt Delete is a Ryan Køpf con.

Note: Chicago TARDIS mentions that if you have an issue with a staff member, use the contact info at the bottom of their policy page. However, it does not specify that the contact it will go to is their security team, which could be an issue if the person you're having a problem with is working security.

Note: DieCon's policy is not specific enough with its consequences or definition of harassment.

Note: Fan Expo Chicago has an incident report system for multiple conventions, but Chicago is currently not available to select.

Note: Windycon's reporting procedures are on a different page that also explains third-party reporting through the Independent Incident Response Team (IIRT), but it is linked prominently on the policy page.
