New Jersey

If you know of a convention that needs to be added to the list or have updated your own convention's policy, you can fill out the form here. If you find any broken links or have any questions about this page, please contact Fractali at admin@cosplayer-ssn.org. This is a perpetual work in progress!

A guide to some of New Jersey's laws can be found here.

Note: conventions with * have either not updated for several years, have a malfunctioning website, or may be defunct.

Note: AnimeNEXT's "policy" is one mention of harassment located under Dress Code > General, which is not intuitive to find.

Note: Castle Point Anime Convention's mention of harassment is right next to a sentence regarding emergencies that instructs you to "call the police first, then find a staff member." We understand that calling an emergency service could be valuable in circumstances of physical harm. However, because many folks in the convention community are also from marginalized communities that are routinely discriminated against by law enforcement and would be dissuaded to report with the solution of calling the police so prominently displayed; because police so rarely investigate cases of harassment, stalking, abuse, and sexual assault with dignity toward the reporting party, if they investigate at all; if it is the con's preference to keep this number on the policy page, we would not recommend including this information in a Harassment Policy section or alongside the one mention of harassment on their policy page.

Note: Collect-A-Con's policy can be found by scrolling to the very bottom of the home page.

Note: The word "derpy" is an ableist slur and regardless of the score it receives for its policy, we would strongly encourage Derpycon to revise its name.

Note: Evil Expo is Jeff Mach's convention. Jeff Mach has been accused of extensive sexual assault and misconduct. It is no surprise that the website for this convention does not feature a robust or even a bare minimum harassment policy.

Note: Garden State Fur The Weekend's mention of harassment is a linked-out PDF. There is a contact listed on the Code of Conduct page, but it is not mentioned whether this contact can be used to report harassment.

Note: Kogaracon's website auto-played a video on the home page when we evaluated it for a policy.

Note: New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival's harassment policy is located at the very bottom of the home page.

Note: Sci-Fi Summit, Stranger Con New Jersey, and The Vampire Diaries/Originals Official Reunion Convention (same company) policies state that "the company's complete policy is stated on each schedule of events that is handed out at each convention." If that policy is more robust than what is on the website, we cannot evaluate it. The policy must be on the website in full.
