International & Traveling Conventions

If you know of a convention that needs to be added to the list or have updated your own convention's policy, you can fill out the form here. If you find any broken links or have any questions about this page, please contact Fractali at admin@cosplayer-ssn.org. This is a perpetual work in progress!

Note: We would like to point out that at the bottom of Anime North's Harassment section there is a section called "PDAs - Public Displays of Affection," under which it describes "ask[ing someone's] age before anything you may regret later happens." We would love for them to elaborate upon what this means. Underage sexual activity counting as illegal? Predatory behavior? Why does this come after a sentence describing cosplayers wearing revealing costumes and their love lives? Please be explicit. We have never seen this language in other policies and are curious as to why this convention feels it is necessary. Moreover, we would love an explanation as to why in the Harassment section, certain types of assault ("areas of the body that would be covered by jockey shorts or bra and panties") are treated "very seriously," with the implication that other types of assault, including harassment or stalking, occurring outside of a generally defined underpants region would not be treated as seriously.

Note: To find Georgian Bay FanCon's mention of harassment, you must click on the "Festival Info" banner itself rather than a page listed under its dropdown menu. This is not necessarily intuitive.

Note: To find Harumatsuri's policy, you must click up in the "Anime Evolution" banner > Info > just the "Convention Rules" part, no further page. It is not necessarily intuitive to know that the policy applies to Harumatsuri because it is labeled "Anime Evolution" and it is not necessarily intuitive to know that clicking on "Convention Rules" will take you to a page that does anything other than differentiate from its two sub-tabs that pop up in the menu.

Note: KimiKon's "policy" can be found by clicking on Registration > Attendee and then downloading the terms of service. The ToS also says you waive any right to sue them for damages and restitution.

Heroes and Villians FanFest

Note: Heroes & Villians FanFest's policy is found when you click on each city, then click on Information and scroll to Code of Conduct. Rather, it should be linked directly from the header. It states simply that they have the right to eject people from the event with no elaboration on any consequences for lesser offenses.
